Roy Kramer, a terrorist during the "years of lead", escapes from prison while being transferred by sea, dragging the policeman he's handcuffed to along with him. They end up on a deserted island, inhabited only by an eight-year-old girl, Angelica' with her sister Beatrice and their nanny Martina. The policeman falls into the sea and drowns, and the child finds the keys to the handcuffs. Roy is finally free. Martina throws herself in his arms, but dies soon after in a senseless accident. Beatrice meets the same fate, after she offered herself to Roy' who is filled with remorse at this horrible destiny. But the child consoles him by telling him her favorite fairy tales' in which a handsome prince stranded on an island is about to be the victim of two wicked witches, but a little princess saves him by killing the witches with a magic spell. Roy is plagued by an horrible suspicion - that the child is the one that killed Martina and Beatrice. In his state of anguish he trips, falls, hits his head and faints. When he comes to his senses, he realizes he's been bound and gagged, and Angelica is telling him the end of the fairy tale.
