Jan Saudek: Life After Death

Jan Saudek is the Czech Republic's very own David Hamilton / Jock Sturges. He publishes pictures that would be impossible to not have a strong opinion about. There are probably no neutral feelings possible. This video is a very good background to the artist and his approaches; it answers questions about 'the wall' and the 'window' that figure prominently in his pictures. It could have used a bit more judicious editing, but you also get a good flavor of his pictures (there are a lot of still shots of his pictures, and he tells you his favorite). There are also scenes of how he sets up his poses. For those wondering about the colorings of his photographs, they are hand tinted. He answers a lot of questions ...or does he? If you are interested in his work, you will want to get this video.
